Approximately 18 years ago around this time of the day my life changed and I’m at a lost of words to express how one person can have such a major impact on my life. It has been a privilege so far to watch you grow up to become the young lady that you are today and I am excited to see what future goals you accomplish.

Kayla J. Ellis

So I scoured the internet to find the some words of wisdom that I would like to bestow upon you as you past this momentous occasion in your life.

Here it goes…..

#1 You are beautiful, never let anyone make you feel differently!

#2 Work, and work hard. Always make sure you can provide for yourself.

#3 Learn the word “NO,” and don’t be afraid to use it without guilt.

#4 Don’t judge anyone, but expect to be judged.

#5 Don’t swallow your feelings, find a way to let them out safely.

#6 Being the first to apologize does not make you weak.

#7 Words can build bridges or burn them, choose them wisely.

#8 Laughter is good for the soul.

#9 Always trust your gut instinct. ALWAYS!

#10 High school is not real life. Be prepared.

Technically this list can go on and on (i.e. put God first, dad second, family third, etc…) especially since there is no end to the internet, but I do have one more to add…

#11 You can tell me anything, any time. I will always be here for you

I know that I am not always there in close proximity, but you are always on my mind and I love you with all my heart.

Happy 18th Birthday Kayla,

Love your dad.
